A Full Moon Ritual

Embracing the Power of the Full Moon: A Guide to Its Meaning, Energy, and a Special Healing Ritual

The full moon is a special time, and as the night sky unfolds and the luminous glow of the full moon bathes the world in silvery light, we have the option to pause, reflect, and harness the potent energies that this celestial event offers.

The full moon has long been revered across cultures for its mystical power, its ability to illuminate what is hidden, and to activate transformation within us, so let’s take the opportunity before us!

The Meaning of the Full Moon

The full moon signifies culmination, clarity, and completion. It is a time when the energy of the lunar cycle reaches its peak, illuminating our intentions, emotions, and our core essence, perhaps even our central truths. Historically, many spiritual traditions have used this point in time for charging crystals, releasing what no longer serves, and celebrating the harvest of the work done since the last full moon - kind of cool really, recognition and a regroup.

Symbolically, the full moon reminds us that darkness and light coexist—this is big - to see how each each illuminates the other. It encourages us to recognise and embrace our dark side, to acknowledge our fears, and to celebrate our growth. It’s a powerful time for introspection, gratitude, and setting intentions for the next phase of our journey and in particular, the next month.

The Energy of the Full Moon

The energy of the full moon is intensely transformative. It amplifies our emotions—joy, love, frustration, or longing—making it a good time for emotional release and healing. The moon’s gravitational pull also influences the tides, reminding us of our own fluidity and interconnectedness with the universe - I am You and You are Me. We ourselves have a ridiculously high water content so of course we are profoundly affected by the moons cycling.

During this time, energy is heightened, making it easier to focus in on our desires or release burdens that no longer serve us - whichever is front of mind. It’s a period ripe with opportunity for spiritual growth, for accessing our intuition, and aligning with our higher selves.

Harnessing the Full Moon: A Special Healing Ritual

To honour this powerful lunar phase and tap into its healing energy, I invite you to practice a full moon healing ritual every month for a whole year - for 13 cycles. This deceptively simple ritual is designed to clear any energetic blocks, release negativity, and set empowering intentions for the month ahead, all for your highest good.

Full Moon Healing Ritual

What you’ll need:

A sacred space

Your Moon Tarot Card

Two sheets of paper and a pen

A ritual candle

Crystals (at the full moon I especially like to use my amethysts, clear quartz and selenite, but choose what speaks to you, and if you have some nice moonstone - definitely incorporate that. Likewise if you have a piece of labradorite),

A yummy mug of herbal tea - and think about this, the herbs in your tea are a part of your ritual work…

Coloured pens or pencils

Blank colouring or drawing book

Now The Steps:

Create a Sacred Space: In the depths of winter I set myself up inside on the rug in front of my sliding door so that the moonlight comes through. The rest of the year I go out into the garden and use it as my sacred space. If you’re using them, set up your crystals before and around you, position your Moon Tarot card, light your candle and take a few easy, gentle breaths to drop into your heart.

Connect with the Moon: From your heartspace, connect with the full moon, and get a sense of its energy flowing into you. Visualise it’s light enveloping your entire being, filling you with clarity and power - the soft power of Grandmother Moon.

Reflect and Release: In this gentle state of awareness, write down anything you are ready to release from your life—fears, doubts, negative patterns, hurts or burdens. Be honest and be gentle with yourself, and take the time. You deserve the space to process your life.

Express Your Gratitude: Now it’s time to shift a little. Write down all that you are grateful for, acknowledging your growth and accomplishments and all that you feel blessed by.

Release and Let Go: Now for the power moments. Carefully and safely burn the papers in the candle’s flame. Firstly burn the list of fears hurts and burdens, all the while visualising those worries transforming into light and being carried away by the smoke. As you watch them burn, affirm to yourself or say out loud into the ether: “I release what no longer serves me and welcome healing and growth.” Next you you take your gratitude list and burn that holding within you the idea that the energy of your blessings, like the smoke from the burning expands out into the space around you and say to yourself or out loud, “All that is right and good flows to me with ease. I am open to love and life and bounty” Take a little time here to sit in the energy of the magical ritual you have worked for yourself here.

Set Intentions: Open up your colouring book, and on a fresh page, write out, draw or colour your intentions or goals for the coming lunar cycle. Be creative, specific, relaxed and positive. Allow yourself to enjoy this artistic process., really flow with it You can write words, do diagrams or even circles and squiggles - what’s really happening is that you are laying down the energy for what you wish to manifest in a physical tangible way. Once this feels complete, I would invite you to take your labradorite or other special crystal if you have one, and hold it gently as you let your eyes rest on your creation, or visualise in your minds eye and allow a sense of having being or doing what you imagined for yourself. Breathe and relax into this.

Close with Gratitude: Thank the moon, your guides, and yourself for this sacred moment and for the support that is yours. Close the cover of your manifesting book, snuff out the candle if it is still burning and disperse the circle with three Oms or your own version of special words and know that the work is now done.

Remember

The full moon is a powerful ally in your spiritual journey. Like the solstice and equinox markers, Use this time to nurture yourself, let go of what holds you back, and celebrate your divine unfolding. Trust in the process, and know that your own higher self, spirit, and the universe itself, is always supporting your highest good.

Wishing you a luminous full moon celebration ritual filled with love, healing, and transformation. Love and light to you. Karen xxx
