An End of Summer Tarot Spread

The End of Summer Tarot Spread

I love the changing of the seasons. I love the shift in the air, the light, the energy even. It’s these things that alert me that it’s time to reflect on what has been, and get ready for the season to come. Usually when this happens I’ll think about what seeds need to go into the garden for the next show of flowers and new veggies for the kitchen garden. I’ll change the furniture around in the lounge room, or give the crystals a wash and tune in to where they need to be shifted to in order to have the energy flow optimal in the house. But when the busy work has been done, I get my Tarot cards out and do a reading for myself. I love the ritual of this; the opportunity to reflect, refocus, and prepare for what is to come. For me, it’s a real act of self-nourishment, a way to be present with myself, to show up and really witness my own journey.

This here, is the Tarot Spread I like to use at the end of summer. It’s still warm enough to sit out on the back verandah to enjoy the morning sunshine while you do it - a bit like goldilocks and the porridge - it’s just right.. The right spread, and the right time.

I hope you get Your Tarot cards out and give this spread a go, and enjoy the witness and presence for self that is intended to be a part of the practice of reading the cards for yourself. So here it is;

How to Do Your Tarot Reading

Shuffle your tarot deck with the intention of exploring where you’re at right now, and how things have been for you over the summer season. Once the deck is well shuffled, cut the deck into three piles moving towards your left, then put the three piles back together - but in a different order so that they are even more shuffled. Fan the cards out facing downwards, then select four of them using your left hand and face them downwards from left to write in a horizontal line.

Turn the cards over one at a time and reflect on each card's message to you, and how it relates to your life, keeping in mind the positions of the spread as described below, as this is what provides the scaffolding for the reading.
