Channelling and Mediumship

Understanding Channelling: A Dive into Higher Consciousness

In the realm of spiritual practices, the terms "channelling" and "mediumship" often get used interchangeably, in much the same way that the words soul and spirit do. Channelling and mediumship are quite different, they deliver quite distinct experiences.. My intention in writing this blog post is to clarify what channeling is, how it differs from mediumship, and the varying levels of consciousness accessed in each practice.

So What is Channelling?

Channelling is a process through which an individual, usually referred to as a "channeller," taps into higher states of consciousness or spiritual dimensions to receive messages, insights, or guidance. This can involve connecting with a variety of sources, from the higher self, to spirit guides, angels, the collective consciousness, or beings from other planets and galaxies.

When working, the channeller enters an altered state. Some channels enter a light meditative state, retaining full awareness of their surroundings as they bring through messages and guidance, while others, like the famed Edgar Cacye, enter a deep trance state and have little or no awareness of their surroundings or the information they access for clients.

Channelling provides access to profound knowledge, healing, and inspiration, that can positively influence both the channeller, and the lives of those who seek guidance.

Channelling vs. Mediumship: The Key Differences

While both channeling and mediumship involve communication with non-physical entities, there are some key differences;:

Channelling: Typically involves connecting with higher consciousness, spiritual guides, or collective wisdom. The focus is on broader insights about life, personal growth, and universal truths, and aims to provide guidance, healing and wisdom from the higher realms for personal development and spiritual growth. Some channels bring information through for individuals in a private setting, while others channel for larger groups.

Mediumship: Fundamentally, mediumship is about communication between the living and the dead. Mediumship provides the opportunity for closure and comfort for those who have lost a loved one. The medium serves as a bridge, sharing messages from loved ones which can confirm what is referred to as, ‘proof of life’, that is, that although not here in the physical, their ‘life’ in the form of consciousness continues.

Levels of Frequency

Channelling: This practice could be said to operate at a higher frequency, as the Channel often connects with more expansive and universal energies, tapping into a broader spectrum of consciousness. This can lead to insights that transcend individual experiences, offering wisdom that is applicable to many.

Mediumship: Also a beautiful and profound practice, mediumship tends to resonate at frequencies that are closer to the earthly realm. The communication is often more personal and specific, as it focuses on the individual experiences and emotions tied to the friend or family member who has died. .

Understanding the nuances between channeling and mediumship can enhance our appreciation for these spiritual practices. Channeling invites us to explore higher consciousness and universal wisdom, while mediumship connects us with the personal experiences and messages from friends and family who have passed over. Both practices offer unique pathways to understanding ourselves and the universe, enriching our spiritual journey.
