The Best Tarot Cards To Use For Healing

Unlocking Healing Power: Your Tarot Deck Is A Tool Box For Healing

Today I’d like to share a couple of thoughts with you about using the Tarot cards for healing, nothing definitive, just some rambling thoughts from Karen having her morning coffee, so here goes.

In just the same way that we pull the toolbox out of the shed and have a poke around in it when we are looking for the right thing to fix that leaky tap, squeaky gate or flapping piece of tin on the fence, so too, we can also take out our Tarot deck and look through the cards with a similar mindset, seeking just the right image, with all its power, energy and guidance to help us heal what ails us.

Allow me to share an example if you would, as that may help you stay with my random think-stream.

Here it is;

Let’s say your physical health is not what it should be. You can feel that your mood is not high, your energy is low, and something is just off, and you’re not quite sure how to sort that out. So think about the experience you are having, and imagine it like a Tarot spread if that helps, or the process you’d take to resolve a more tangible issue in the outer world perhaps. Wouldn’t you be thinking about the different parts of the situation and sifting through ideas, scenarios and possible solutions?

  1. How are you feeling? Is it a 5 of Cups experience, a 10 of Swords or Death card state? Go through your cards, looking at each of them to get a ‘hit’ on which card represents where you’re at, or how you are. Consider this a time of reflection, of gathering information and clarity on the situation. Select one card that most represents where you’re at.

  2. What is required? Next step is to think about who in the Tarot can help you to get in there and find out what is actually going on. You need some guidance to take you where you need to go to find out right?. I’m thinking Hermit card here, but who is it in that deck of personalities, skills, challenges and strengths that you could call on to help you get what or where you need to be, in this particular situation? Look through the deck and find that card.

  3. What do I need to do? Okay, so now you know how you’re feeling, and you know what’s required, so now it’s time to do something. What are the steps you need to take to get out of where you’re at, or into a better place or state? How many steps or actions are required? Here you can take a couple of quiet breaths and tune in and get a number. The number that comes represent the number of steps required. Choose one card for each step. Sit and reflect on each card and determine the step it represents. Now follow the guidance.

Obviously you can work with this, it’s a malleable process, one way of approaching a challenging state when you find yourself in one. If nothing else, the action of working with the cards to address where you’re at will shift you up - because you are doing something, so it’s a win-win. Play and see how it goes. Allow yourself to be curious.

Let’s segue now and look at a couple of Tarot cards as indicators of the type of healing energy, or at what level they can offer healing energy to you….

Different Levels of Healing

Spiritual Healing

The High Priestess

Symbolizes intuition, inner wisdom, and spiritual insight.

This card encourages you to trust your inner voice and connect with your higher self. When feeling spiritually lost or disconnected, the High Priestess guides you inward, urging reflection and meditation. It’s an invitation to explore your spiritual depths, embrace and actually get the divine guidance you naturally have access to.

The Hermit

Represents solitude, introspection, and spiritual enlightenment.

For spiritual healing, The Hermit urges retreat and contemplation. Spending time alone in nature or quiet reflection can reignite your spiritual flame and provide clarity on your life’s purpose.

Mental Healing

The Star

Embodies hope, renewal, and mental clarity.

When your mind feels overwhelmed or like it’s all hopeless, The Star offers reassurance that brighter days are ahead. It encourages optimism, faith, and mental rejuvenation—helping you release negative thought patterns and foster a sense of peace.

The Moon

Signifies subconscious fears, illusions, and mental shadow work.

Working with The Moon can help you confront mental blockages or anxieties. It’s a reminder to explore your subconscious and embrace your inner truths, leading to mental clarity and emotional release. It can also help you to just accept and stop struggling which is often the cause of mental strain and overwhelm.

Emotional Healing

The Empress

Symbolizes unconditional love, nurturing, and emotional abundance.

This card is a powerful ally for emotional healing, reminding you to nurture yourself as well as others. It promotes self-compassion, forgiveness, and opening your heart to love—crucial steps toward emotional balance. By the by, if opening your heart to love is a thing for you, get yourself some pink kunzite as that will work beautifully with the Empress in this particular area.

Two of Cups

Represents harmonious relationships and emotional connection.

For healing emotional wounds related to relationships or self-worth, the Two of Cups encourages reconciliation, empathy, and emotional openness. It signifies healing through connection and mutual understanding.

Physical Healing

The Sun

Embodies vitality, energy, and good health.

The Sun’s vibrant energy can inspire physical renewal and vitality. Visualizing or meditating on this card can promote a sense of well-being and zest for life, supporting recovery and physical strength.

The Ace of Pentacles

Symbolising new beginnings, health, and prosperity in the physical world.

This card suggests fresh starts in health routines or lifestyle changes. It encourages taking practical steps toward physical well-being, such as nourishing your body or getting a consult with your naturopath for guidance and accountability, perhaps even just the support for a new healthier eating plan to take you up to the mountains you can see in the background of the card!

Integrating Tarot for Holistic Healing

Using the Tarot for healing isn’t just about selecting cards from the deck; it’s about engaging with their messages and energies consciously. Here are some things to consider accessing for your overall wellbeing:

A Daily reflection- It’s a great practice to choose a card a day to reflect or meditate on. I like to ask myself, what message is here for my Soul today. It’s interesting to note what comes up.

Tarot Journaling - Journaling is a great practice in so many ways. It’s an opportunity to unclutter your mind and defrag yourself, get clear about your hopes and fears - all of that and much more. When you add in the Tarot, you’re adding glitter to something that is already beautiful and useful. If it speaks to you, and you like to write, do start a Tarot Journal. The question you ask in your mind as you pick your Tarot card will determine where you go with your Tarot Journal - it can be a record of your daily reflection (see above) it can be what your soul wants you to know, it can be what you need to be mindful of. Ask the right question…

Visualisation - Why not use the imagery of the cards to visualise health, balance, and well-being? The Tarot cards have within them many esoteric symbols that genuinely add juice to your creative visualisations and manifesting magic!

Closing Thought

Tarot is a versatile and profound tool that can support you across all areas of your life. Whether you seek spiritual awakening, mental clarity, emotional balance, or physical vitality, certain cards can serve as powerful allies. Remember, the true magic lies in your intention and your openness to healing, change and empowerment—the Tarot simply guides the way, its a grounding point, an arrow, a directional marker..

Embrace these cards as part of your holistic wellness toolkit and let their energies inspire and support your journey toward health, abundance and wholeness.
